Please give me back my number.
I have a prepaid number, which I was trying to keep alive while my son was in the United States. I was told that so long as there was activity on the account every three months it would remain open. I loaded air time for thirteen months last year, and it remained open. I forgot to load this month, but the last time I loaded was in June which is only 2 months ago, and now they have cancelled the line. I have asked for it to be reactivated, and the call centre people are trying really hard to help me. I do not mind paying to have it reinstated, but all that happens is that some clerk seems to decide it is too much trouble. I cannot believe the number has already been handed out someone else, as it does not connect when I call. Come on Vodacom, you can do better than this!!!
10. Suspension/Disconnection
10.1 Vodacom may from time to time, by giving you advance notice where reasonably practicable and dependent on the circumstances, suspend the Services or disconnect your Cellphone Number from the Network for a period to be determined by Vodacom, in any one of the following circumstances -
10.1.1 if the Service has not been used by you for a period in excess of 120 days (four months). - I DID USE THE LINE. I LOADED AIRTIME ON 14 JUNEand noticed on 16 August that the line had been cancelled. This is WAY under the 120 day period specified by the contract. The lady at the call centre told me that loading air time does not constitute using the phone, but then, if I did exactly the same thing for the whole of 202o why was it not cancelled then?
Unfortunately, by hiding behind your contract, you are actually admitting your mistake.
10.1.2 during any technical failure, modification or maintenance of the Network;
10.1.3 if you fail to comply with any of these terms and conditions;
10.1.4 if so directed by the Regulatory Authority; or
10.1.5 in any other instance specifically provided for in these terms and conditions.
10.2 Having regard to the circumstances at the time of suspension, disconnection or reconnection, as the case may be, Vodacom shall be entitled to levy a reasonable fee in respect of such suspension, disconnection and/or any reconnection.
