Plan increase without consent

My friend is on the M+ contract, the price per month increase from R248 to R251 due to vat. Now the contract increased from R251 to R298 without his consent,he called them and they said the price increased because his megabytes per month increased from 750 to 900, he was not aware of this until he called the customer care.
