Phones last until just outside warranty. Ask R2700 to repair!!
During June 2016 I received a "refurbished" iPhone5s from Vodacom under the contract upgrade poilcy. On the 24th of October 2017 (3 months outside the ridiculous 1 year warranty) the phone can't receive a signal anymore. I decide to "restore" it on iTunes. Which just makes things worse as now the phone is stuck in a boot-loop.
Vodacom takes the phone in and says it will cost R2700 to fix? This is extremely dissapointing. To furthermore add insult to injury: I received an sms to tell me the repair job will cost R#cost ****erally, no value was indicated) to fix and I should phone them to accept or decline. Why can't you phone me? Now I should pay you, to phone you, so you can get the airtime I bought from you? Seriously?? Furthermore, I then phone Vodacom Menlyn, to ask for the quote value, some unidentified man answers, takes the repair job number from me and dissapears. No "please hold while I transfer you", just silence. I then proceed to wait in silence for about 5 minutes, another man answers and again asks me for the job number? What was the point of me giving it to the first guy??
So I eventually receive the quote, I then say I can't accept the quote (its as much as buying a decent entry level smart phone), so the man just says, "you will receive an sms to collect" and hangs up!
I will be removing all 7 contracts I have with vodacom as soon as they expire. Customer service and value for money have gone down the drain. I wouldn't recommend Vodacom to anyone.
