Phone upgrade mayhem
I am frustrated as hell; just need to vent somewhere. I am quite into tech and have always used the best (or close to) cellphones. I usually do research well before purchasing. My current phone is a Huawei P30 (last of the androids) which I might say is excellent. I delayed my upgrade because most phones looked a bit bad compared to what I am used to. I went on Saturday Morning (20 November) to Vodacom4U at Cape Gate Brackenfell. I said that I am used to good phones and would like something better or equal to what I have. They presented me with an Oppo Reno5. I then asked the lady about the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G and I said that I am willing to pay more for a decent phone. She convinced me the Oppo Reno5 is in the same class. I decided to go with what she said and upgraded to the Oppo Reno5. Upon getting the phone ready (transferring apps, etc) I soon realized that this phone is not even in the same class as my current phone and a source of great frustration. I took the sim out and put everything back in the box. On Sunday I went back to Vodacom4U Cape Gate and tried to get myself out of the situation. I stated clearly that I do not want the phone and will give it away if I cannot get it exchanged as I do not want to sit with something I regard as inferior to what I am used to. As suspected I was plainly told this is not possible and now I have to pay 3 years for something I can't stand. Once you signed you are as good as done with. A car you can still get rid of if you don't like but cellphones are for life. Once you commit it is irreversible.
