Phone repairs -Bad service

My Samsung S8 screen got cracked and I took the phone in for repair at the Atterbury Value Mart in Pretoria East on the 25th of March 2019. The device was booked in and they told me there will be a wait time of about three weeks for repairs to be completed.

About a week after the device was booked, I received a call from Vodacom, explaining to me that they are about to do the repair, but if I would be willing to pay the excess amount of around R550. I agreed to the excess amount and I asked the consultant how I should pay the excess amount? He then told me all he needed was for me to accept and that they will go ahead with the repair, and once finished, they will send the fixed device back to the store, where I can then pay the excess.

I mailed the store this morning and they phoned me back, telling me they have not even started the repair, as they are waiting for the excess to be paid!! He promised me that I will receive an SMS with banking details for paying, still no SMS.

This is very frustrating when the first consultant explicitly told me another story. Very poor service.

I received the SMS just now. BUT, now the excess is R5500.00??? How is the world can this be right? Why do I pay R175 p/m for insurance if the excess on a screen repair of a 2-year-old phone is R5500?? I can buy a brand new S8 phone now for R13k. Why was I quoted R550 two weeks back, and now it is this much? Ridiculous.
