Personal information given to third party and Vodacom says it’s allowed if someone ask for a customer’s number

Vodacom

Thank you Hello Peter for your assistance in this matter.

I still fail to understand why is Vodacom so inconsiderate of their customer’s concern. I will have no choice but to seek legal advice from my lawyers regarding this matter. Unless I contact Hello Peter, I do not hear anything from Vodacom. In the last review I wrote, I mentioned that a gentleman said they would investigate and revert to me, which never happened, hence I had to write another review because that is the only time you get a response from Vodacom. I had forgotten to mention his name, Moeketsi. Only upon reading my review, they make attempts to call me. How come that I should write a review here and only then they call when they had said the will revert to me three months ago? This time an uninterested gentleman that I doubt is even aware of what transpired from the beginning of this or who just doesn’t give a damn about this matter at all, by the name of Dine speaks absolute lies from the beginning to the end of the conversation.

First he starts by saying he’s the one that had been making a follow up on this matter, which I say it’s not true because he has never called me before. I ask him why does he only call after my review he says he has called before, I ask when did he call? There’s no response. I ask him about the fact that I was told that there were four Vodacom shops at the mall of Africa and suddenly he knows which one is responsible for this mass? No answer. I ask him if he says if it’s okay for someone to walk into a shop and ask for my number and for the Vodacom staff to give away my number he says Thandi asked for it does he know this Thandi? What justifies that this Thandi was given my number? Only because she says she found my phone in the toilet after I have proof that my phone was found in Alexander that morning two days after I lost it? Dine is choosing a stranger’s version of events over a customer that has been with Vodacom since the year 2000? This is how best he thinks he should address this matter? And expects me to accept that meanwhile he’s not the one who was harassed and left traumatised by some stranger caller asking for their ID number one evening or does his give away his ID numbers to strange callers whenever they call asking for it? Does this person see anything wrong in this at all? Is Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 in agreement with this? That part of my personal information was given to a third party and that person called and harassed me asking for my ID number and the Vodacom staff rubbed salt in the wound by telling me I was rude for not going giving my ID number to a stranger? The best thing that Dine expects me to accept is that if someone walks to a Vodacom shop and says they found a customer’s phone they want to hand it over, they will just be given the customer’s details just like that, on top of that allow the situation to go to a point where the customer is harassed in full view of the Vodacom staff? Doesn’t Vodacom have the customer’s best interest at heart? What is so right in giving customer’s personal information to a third party instead off calling the customer and assisting them the best possible way?
