Paying for phone I can't use

Good day

I would like other users to know what my experience with Vodacom has been like for the last three months. During January my Sony Xperia Z3 that I got in June 2015 started giving problems. I took my phone in for repairs to Wellington, they booked it in for me, and they’ve now send it in for me twice, and four job numbers later the problem is still not resolved. Here’s my repair history:

Job ********** 3

On the 26th of January I booked in my phone because it kept switching off when I received an sms or Whatsapp, and it would say the battery is empty, and then after two minutes on charge it would say battery full, only to say battery empty two minutes after being off the charger. The screen also dimmed by itself. I received an exchange unit.

Job ********** 3

On the 23rd of February in went back to the store to hand in the phone again. The faults where exactly the same as before. The consultant looked up the imei on the phone and booked it in as per the imei on the phone. Vodacare then wanted to quote on the repair. After the store asked them what imei they had with them, a completely different imei was given to them.

Job ********** 5

After the store queried the imei the booked it in under another imei, the one they said they had with them.

Job ********** 4

And then it was booked in again under another imei. The device was exchange on this job, but once again I’m sitting with exactly the same fault, and the speaker is also an issue now.

For months I’ve paid my Vodacom account without being able to use my phone. I’ll have to go hand in my phone again on Monday, and by the time I receive it back this has turned into a three months process. And if they are going to repair it the same way as before I’m still going to have a faulty device. Vodacom needs to up their game when it comes to repairs. Yes it might be a Sony phone, but if they’ve got a Vodacare handeling the repairs they must be able to fix a phone on the first repair.

I’m just left feeling disappointed with the service I’ve received.

Johan Loftus
