Pay back the money you owe me!
I was called by Vodacom Direct, the sales person said she can reduce my bill to R260, and will include a free Modem and 100Gb of data and a R1000 gift voucher. I explained that the modem was not necessary, as I already have a fiber connection, and I live in an area where the coverage is poor so the service will not work well. She insisted it was a great deal combo deal, so I agreed as although I would struggle to find a use for the modem, my bill would be lower and I get a voucher. Imagine the horror when my bill was R820. Rather than spending hours on the phone, I went to my local Vodacom shop to sort out this miscommunication. They said they do not deal with Vodacom direct issues, and I must call them myself. Call #1 Rifilwe hung up on me. Call #2 Norma promised to escalate it and call me back in 72h – nothing. Call #3Goodwill said he will escalate it and call me at the end of the day. 3 days –no response. Call #4 Portia – said she cannot refer me to back to Goodwill to help, be she will escalate it again. She refused to give me an E-mail that I can contact them and correspond in writing. I went back to Vodacom shop to complain. They said they cannot assist me. They say they are inundated with customers who complain about Vodacom Direct misrepresenting themselves. They said I should ask for a reference number and follow it up. Call#5 Khumo: he refuse to give me a direct number for a supervisor, and said he’ll ask one to call me 5 minute s. Nobody called me back. Call #6 to Vodacom customer care, Xholani gave me a reference number, wrote an E-mail to escalate it, and they’d call me back. So far, that is 6 calls, and 2 visits to a shop, and each time giving my full details and holding for long periods of time, and not a single person from Vodacom has called me back. I persisted with Vodacom customer care department and spoke to Jamie. She said they will call me back. Finally Mpho from after sales called me, and said that her supervisor, Mr Oshendren Naaidoo would call me soon. He never did. I then referred this ********** affair to Hello Peter, and Marvin from Vodacom customer care called me. He said he did not know what the outcome would be, but that I might have to listen to the original sale call recording at a Vodacom shop, as it is their property, and they cannot send it to me. Marvin called a few days later to follow up. Eventually I got an SMS from the Mondo team with a reference number RC***. I had a missed call from them. I returned the call and pressed 1 for Vodacom and spoke to an agent that said she was actually from the MTN side of the company (Both companies outsource to the same people). She said that she can still check my query on the system, and indicated to me that it was in my favour however since she was on the MTN side, she could not deal with it. Marvin called to follow up, and said that they would call me. The Mondo team eventually called and agreed with me that the Vodacom Direct sales person had misrepresented themselves on the call. She said that a courier will collect the modem the following week, that they will cancel the contract, and that they will credit my account for the contract that was sold to me under false pretext. My first call to Vodacom direct was on the 14-06-2023 and the last call from them was on 07-09-2023. That’s almost 3 months of badgering them admit that someone from Vodacom Direct was dishonest with me. And all the time they were billing me R820 instead of R260 as promised. I received my latest bill on 6-10-2023 and see that they did not keep their word with respect to crediting me for their misdemeanor, further I am still being billed for the SIM that was in the Modem which is in their possession.
