Well Done Vodacom - Two weeks later and still the handset is not repaired or replaced because apparently the Spec on the phone is a complete LIE. So who's fault is that. The MANAGERS at VODACOM also dont get back to us and this is now the WORST SERVIE FROM YOU BASED ON YOU STAFF EVER RECEIVED. If things are not logged on Hello Peter nothing gets done. I suppose that is the rating VODACOM wants. I WANT SOMEONE INTERESTED IN THEIR JOB AT VODACOM TO CALL ME HUSBAND URGENTLY and at least an approaciate outcome for a client that has been with them for a really long time. The fact hat his handset will cost 16.7K to repair and that the phone is water damaged is *******. the phone as per the Spec can be palced under water for 30 mins at 4 Meters. How the Hell does it get water damamged???????????????? Call him on *** or myself on ***.

I called for you yesterday afternoon and you had already left. I called now again and you weren’t available to take me call. Seemingly enough there isn’t a manager there that could take my call either.

Please can I have the report from Apple and their comms stating that they won’t honour the warranty as well as the person/contact that was working on my phone.

I tried calling you, please can you give me a call back with feedback on what the status is off this?

There isn?t any transparency with Vodacom and I have to run around to get any information. All I know now is that it was escalated to an Apple Tech. I don?t know what this means.

I will not be paying for this contract next week if this issue hasn?t been resolved. The fact that I?m a disgruntled customer doesn?t seem to matter much to Vodacom. The complaint was published on HelloPeter as well with not as much as a twitch from Vodacom. I got the automated message but no call ? nothing.

I am terribly disappointed with the service I?ve received. Being a long-standing customer, I expected more.

Good day, I would like to escalate the attached quote formally. I am being quoted R16K on repairing my iPhone 11 Pro Max. This phone has an IP68 rating which is better than any of score managed on a smartphone.

The 8 in 168: This number is the water resistance rating. An "8" means that the iPhone can be fully submerged for one meter or more for up to 30 minutes without causing any water damage to the phone.

The official spec on the Apple site states:

Rated IP68 (maximum depth of 4 metres up to 30 minutes) under IEC standard 60529.

Sounds great doesn't it? Well according to Vodacom's "Advanced" Repair Centre, this is all a lie. On Sunday the 5th of Jan my new iPhone 11 Pro Max got wet by the poolside. Worked fine the entire day, could stream, game and do whatever I normally do. Later that evening whilst catching up on my Twitter Feed my phone switched off. Was off for a few mins and then went back on. After a few minutes the screen flickered and went all white and then dead. The phone itself was still responding. I know this for a fact because the SOS function, when you press all the buttons, was responding. This was tested in-store as well with the consultant.

Now you are quoting me R16 673.85 to replace the handset as the Liquid Damage Indicator shows it has water damage. I find this absolutely ridiculous. I will not be paying this money to replace a defective device. Who is the **** here? Vodacom or Apple? I can guarantee that the device was not underwater for a meter let alone 30 minutes. Where is the consumer protection here? I refuse to pay for something that is not my fault. What technical troubleshooting was done on Job Card No ***3. The gent at the Sandton City Vodacom Shop could not get rid of me fast enough, he told me to call the Advanced Centre. He doesn't know why they quoted me that.

One thing I'm sure about, if I don't have a working phone, I am not paying for the contract.

I would appreciate some urgent assistance in this matter.
