Pathetic service and false advertising - two weeks without internet
We had Vodacom agents in our promoting their fibre packages. The sales agent confirmed that fibre will be released within the first two week in Sept – they had people signing up. I was already on a 24-month contract with Telkom but decided to cancel that and move to Vodacom – costed ~R1,200 for early termination. Then a week after signing up I was then told by the call centre that fibre is not yet live and they cannot give me an expected timeline. I called Octotel which then confirmed the fibre will be live next year only, at earliest in January. I then decided to take out the interim LTE package.
Once I got the router I then on 18 Oct at 19:59 (call number 1) to active the SIM and told the SIM will be active in 24 hours, if not then call back the next day. I called on 19 Oct at 20:06 (call number 2) and was told the person dealing with my activation works until 6pm and they will call me back tomorrow. By 20 Oct, this SIM was not activated, so I call again at approx. 20:25 (call number 3). I was then told there is a backlog with activations and the activation team will never call me so I would have to call again. I give it a few more days because apparently there is a backlog. By 2 Nov I am still left without internet, so I call during the afternoon at: 14:17 (call number 4). Then I get told they cant do anything because I have to be by the router (I am at work, the router is at home) as they need to troubleshoot – bear in mind I was told on call 2 and 3 that I don’t need to be at home when activation happens. Then I get told the SIM is active but they not picking up anything on their side – bear in mind the router was on as I checked before I left home and checked when I got home again. I’m the advised to call before 10pm. I call again (call number 5) and get spun another story that the SIM is not active and a follow up needs to be done again with the activation team. It’s 4 November and I’m still left without internet access.
This is clearly a case of pathetic service and a false marketing campaign to rope in the client. There is no backlog and not a single person could give two ****s – no accountability at all.
