Pathetic excuse for service
Due to an administrative slip up, we neglected to pay our business’ Vodacom account in September 2021. In 30 years of being a loyal customer this is the first time it has ever happened. Anyway, Vodacom cut off all of our business phones on Monday 25 October 2021. Once we realized what was happening we immediately paid our account in full for both September and October (albeit in two separate payments, one shortly after the other). I emailed proof of payment to their collections department immediately and was assured that we would be reconnected within 24hrs. 24hrs later nothing had happened. I phoned again only to be told that the 24hr waiting period only commences after this second call to them. Ok, so we wait. Later that same afternoon (Tuesday 26 October) one of the phones miraculously comes back on line. Hallelujah. Except none of the others do. Ok, so we wait. On Wednesday 27 October, while in on the road with my 6year old and what I thought was a working phone, the phone bombs out - “you have reached your call limit” I am told by the automated voice. Ok, so with no way to contact anyone besides Vodacom, I drive to a friend’s house to borrow some wifi. I learn that two of the other phones have come back on line… great. I phone Vodacom collections again - get placed on hold for 35 mins. Phone back, tell my sorry tale to the 5th person by now… call drops after 5mins. No call back. Give up for the day and borrow another phone. Take up the case again on Thursday 28 October. By now all the other phones are working. I speak to 4 different agents (due to dropped calls) and I am promised that the phone WILL absolutely without a doubt be back on line after ANOTHER 24hrs - this takes us to today, Friday 29 October. I have waited till 5pm to test the phone - just to be 100% sure I give them the full 24hrs + 3hrs more. Does anyone want to venture a guess as to the status of the phone? You guessed it… “You have reached your call limit”. And this on a R2700/month contract with unlimited everything that has been paid in full. So Vodacom… what is the excuse now? Perhaps I should just wait for another 24 hrs and then another and another until my contract runs out and then go to MTN? What do you think? Sound like a plan?
