Overdue Account due to Debit Order not actioned

I have had a contract with Vodacom for more than 2 years and I have always had a debit order arrangement which was honoured monthly without fail. However this month I learnt that my account is overdue and I owe Vodacom money. It seems the debit order was not effected due to a system change, which meant I had to make a payment outside of my normal arrangement with Vodacom. Also this oversight is likely to affect my credit rating even though it was no fault of my own. I have now paid my account (in fact double the due amount) and I will be cancelling my contract with Vodacom, please ensure that my credit record is not negatively affected by this. If negatively affected, this will definitely not be the last time Vodacom hears from me.

I am so upset, firstly to date nobody has contacted me regarding my account. Also I have just called the accounts department and they are claiming I owe an amount in excess of R1200 even though my statement says that the total due is R162 (which I have already paid). Vodacom is unable to tell me what I owe them money for and I am unable to get through to anybody competent enough to sort out my issue.

Hi Consumer Website Team

I called your call centre and held on for over 2 hours whilst being sent from pillar to post before someone picked up my call and referred me to the finance department where I held on for another 30 minutes. Eventually I spoke to somebody and explained that I had credits put on my account from the previous number I had where Vodacom double-charged me for 2 months and rectified the error in December 2019 with 2 credits of R479. And then suddenly in August 2020 this credit was reversed which put me in arrears without my knowledge. I have since paid the arrears amount, but I was trying to plead with your agents to open a ticket for me to explain that this was not my fault so that Vodacom does not list me as a bad payer with the credit bureau. Nobody could assist me with this and nobody can tell me who I can speak to. All they can say to me is that they can see that my latest statement indicates that I owe only my current monthly amount without the arrears, but that I am in arrears. My contract is due for an upgrade, but this has left a bad taste in my mouth and makes me hesitant to have Vodacom as a service provider if this is how long-standing customers are treated.
So yes I have been in contact with your accounts department, but to date I have no assurance from anyone at Vodacom that the history of my account will firstly be analysed for any dispcrepancies, and secondly that I will not be listed at the credit bureau for something that wasn't my own fault. Until this can be done, I would not like to continue being a customer of Vodacom unfortunately.

To date I still have no resolution on this matter. To top it off, Vodacom have now reflected my arrears status on the credit bureau even though I paid the amount they said I apparently owed on 14 August 2020. I am so tired of being bul**** by this big corporate, they really have no regard for the livelihood and dignity of the man on the street. Also I have been unable to cancel my contract because of this issue, and now they are just continuing to milk me for additional contract months even though my account has been paid. I also am unable to make use of the data on my contract because of this issue. I am livid and not sure how to deal with this *********** Goliath that hides behind *********** call centre agents and finance staff.
