Outstanding balance handed over to lawyers and is almost 10 times the initial amount

<p>I had an agreement with agent to cancel contract and to pay a final payment of R1800. I failed to make payment due to financial problems. I then receive an email from lawyers to pay an outstanding amount of R16000. How can the amount be adjusted so much for non payment. That is insane. Account number is I ********** </p>
