Out of Guarantee time frame

Hi there, I send my daughter's phone in for repairs after the phone was almost a month old. They then phoned and informed me that the phone is no longer under guarantee and I should pay R1360 to have it repaired. Phone is now being resend back to repairs and I haven't had proper use from this contract.
