Out of date Warranty

I had taken out a new apple Macbook Air contract on the 11th of August 2020. When I received the device, it appeared as if there was an out-of box failure. I then proceeded to go to my nearest Vodacom store and ask for assistance and a replacement device as I had only received the device a day prior. To my surprise vodacom could not assist and it forced me to go an Apple IStore. After a gentleman ran a diagnostic test on my Mac-Air it was revealed that both my battery and sensor is not working. In addition, it was also revealed that this brand new device that I purchased from Vodacom only has 53 manufacturer Warranty remaining. The call center agents at Vodacom are unable to tell me why this is the case. I have been battling to receive a new device with at least 12 months warranty on. Vodacom Cannot Assist nor is Apple. I am disappointing!
