Out of contract - ******ing customer

To whom it may concern, I am writing this message with great irritation and frustration. I will start with some context so the person picking up the case understands everything. Me and the wife located to London in October of 2017. In this process I left my vodacom open for a few months to have a backup while things was being setup in the UK. In 2018 August I called Vodacom to cancel my contract as doing so in advance of my contract end period (Aug 2018) would have cause penalties and having me to fork out the buying out of contract amount which i was not keen for. Onwards from June 2018 I asked for my contract to be cancelled as the contract term ended. From July there was no more direct debits on my accounts all was happy days. Until mid December 2018 that i received an email from Vodacom telling me I owe them R1500. I was shocked but also angry that they are asking for money after it was cancelled in my mind. Then the start of January 2019 after a good holiday in SA and on my way back to UK i decided to pay Vodacom to clear the stuff and ask again for my account to be closed January 2019. Take note that from January 2018 I never used the Vodacom sim as I was on a Vodafone sim (UK provider).

THe part really gets me ****ed off is the fact that although the contract was over its term, it kept on incurring charges on the account outside of its term AND asking for the account to be closed didnt help as all vodacom customer care people said is I had to first settle the account for it can be closed.

So here is the scary part, you can have a contract and if it goes outside of the term of the contract, vodacom will charge you every month even if you dont use the sim. Then if the account goes into arrears while outside of the term you can only close it ones you settle the full bill. But even with the account being in arrears you are not able to use the sim....

This loop for me is as close to ******ing customers as you can get. If you think about it clearly when a contract goes outside of its term agreed, then its a month to month agreement even though the account might be in arrears you should be able to tell vodacom stop my account and then talk about paying the balance. But the mere fact that you first need to settle the balance before you can talk of cancelling the contract when you are out of term is in my mind ******ing your customer.

I do hope someone can help me close the account cell nr ********** 448 so we can move on. FYI paid 1.8k rand in January 2019 which wasnt easy so the least i expect is for vodacom to close the account and let me leave in peace.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards Danie Nell
