Out of Box Failure

I upgraded to a new Galaxy S6 Edge Wednesday last week. When I got home and after the new nano SIM card was initialised (Wednesday night), I switched on the phone and there was a pink line from top to bottom of the screen.
I returned the phone at 09:00 on Thursday, but the manager told me he has to send the phone to a technician in Midrand to assess the phone - no commitment as to when I will receive a replacement phone.
I visited the shop this morning and the very helpful consultant (Michael) phoned someone, only to find out that nobody has assessed the phone yet.
He said I will probably have a replacement phone on Wednesday.
Since when must a customer be happy with damaged goods? This is NOT in line with the requirements of the Consumer Protection Act!!
The branch manager was very rude on Thursday when I returned the phone and not helpful at all.
I did searches on the internet and it is a known problem, why must a technician assess a phone which is known to have this problem, why not just replace it and then the shop can claim a replacement - why must the client be inconvenienced?
Johan Marais
