Online Upgrade Nightmare

Opted to upgrade my current contract with Vodacom via their website/online offering on the 24th May. Receive a mail confirming the order, delivery address and the need to have ID etc handy and that a courier will be in touch. At the time there wasn't stock of handset I wanted so I figured be patient. No mention is made of 'be prepared to hear from us via a call' and subsequently I receive 3 calls (the first actually rang for a while but I was unable to answer). The 2 remaining calls were literally a ring each and then cancelled. I eventually call on Wednesday, 8th June, to enquire about order. Am told it's been cancelled. I ask why - 'because I never answered a call from Vodacom'. There's no email/SMS notification that the order is cancelled. (nor any prior comms to tell me I need to take a call from anyone at Vodacom). The handset colour is no longer available either. I then have to do another upgrade over the phone which took a while. I confirm countless details and then have to take a further call the next day to reconfirm the similar information again. Am then told that I should receive the handset in 5 days and that the R669 I had confirmed is now R700 odd because of caller line identity? Honestly, there's no feedback loop and almost no reason to bother doing the order online. Would have been easier to just visit a store and do it manually, so to speak. The fact that there was no notification that despite receiving a mail to say order confirmed and that a courier will be in touch when, according to the call centre, they need to reverify all my information and that the order was, in fact, cancelled defies belief. I think it's utterly unprofessional and honestly the notion of having to accept something other than what I wanted and having to sort this out myself is just not ok. Nor needing to wait the period of time to receive a call is just ridiculous. At this point, I honestly don't really want the upgrade (in a colour I initially didn't order either) nor the hassle of having to deal with Vodacom ever again. I'd like someone to attend to this because I'm not even close to happy after many years as a Vodacom customer.
