Online upgrade #epicfail

I was delighted to receive an upgrade email on 27 September. I immediately went online and completed an upgrade. As the phone I ordered was available I was very excited at the next day delivery promise.

After 3 working days I reply to the email. No surprise that it is unmanned. The only other contact details on the upgrade confirmation email are for the general call centre (which I avoid at all costs!) So I took to twitter who, no helpfully gave me the general call centre number. I responded to a digital communication. I completed the transaction digitally. I complained digitally - big hint - I do not want to call you!

On the 6th working day I relent and call the general call centre. After the pain and suffering of hearing my balance etc I eventually get an option to get through to upgrades. Put on hold for nearly 4 mins. When the lady comes back we are cut off and I immediately get the quality feedback message!!! The call centre lady had my telephone number- why has she not called back and where oh where is my upgrade???!!!!

I am even more horrified!! Someone called me to tell me that there was no stock. Why did the website and email confirmation say there was stock? So I have been blatantly **** to. Further, if you tell someone there is stock and there isn't then don't you think you should have the courtesy to inform the CUSTOMER? Not wait for said customers to reach out desparately over 4 channels!: I emailed I called I tweeted I hello petered I called again The lady that called me told me that she is front office not back office and at that point I hung up because I need someone from Vodacom to take accountability!!! I just called the upgrade centre and got the same nonsense! Asked to speak to a manager. After bing onhold for ages am told there is no managed I myst email a NON VODACOM email address: ********** The upgrade lady further also told me that I must call to check availability! Can I just remind me of YOUR actions in this matter: You send me an email to encourage me to upgrade online I go to website and upgrade - there is a confirmation that the device is in stock I receive an email confirmation that the device is in stock I wait for the fulfilment of next day delivery and i am still waiting - 13 DAYS LATER Stop lying to customers. If your website can't get availability right then don't confirm availability online. I just tried to upgrade online to another device and was told I was not eligible for an upgrade now! (although when I logged in I was sent an SMS saying that I have been eligible since 22 August). Please could someone competent and prepared to take accountability sort this out. If the silver phone is not available, send me the matte black - it is apparently available online - but who knows if that is true or not????
