Online Upgrade a joke

I decided to do an online upgrade on my vodacom contract as it is supposed to be more convenient etc. However that is where the pain started. It stated that if you do the upgrade online before 12 it would be a next day delivery. This was done on Thursday 16 Novemeber at 11:45 which according to me would still be before 12:00. Waiting the next day with no confirmation on delivery time I phoned the call centre. The call centre gave me an update stating that is is ready for dispatch and gave me a tracking number. Still expecting it that day hear nothing. I phoned again the afternoon only to be told that it is still ready for dispatch. Talking to contact centre agent I explained that this was not acceptable as it would be easier to go in store. At which point I was transferred to the online department who only just confirmed that the phone is ready for dispatch. I requested that the upgrade get cancelled as this was not acceptable only to be told that they can't as it was in an open state. Monday morning and I phoned again only to hear that it is still ready for dispatch and only to be told that seeing as it was 11:45 did not give them enough time to clear the upgrade and now it would be delivered 3 to 5 business days. After asking how it can go from next day to 3 to 5 working days I was put through to a supervisor understanding that this is not right told me that the phone most probably would not be delivered today either as it is still ready for dispatch so it hasn't left the warehouse yet. As I explained that this is not acceptable All I get is I am sorry for the inconvenience. HOW can this be considered normal and acceptable customer service. I was told that I can email to the admin department and request the upgrade be cancelled. I still have not heard anything back with confirmation. So who knows how long this is still going to be. Seems like if you recieve bad service a simple sorry is good enough. No consequences or rectification. Just a sorry for the inconvenience. Has this really become the norm of service excellence in this country or do suppliers not see the customer as king anymore. I suppose I am just seen as another number.

Reviewer Update
So Another day has gone by with no service what so ever and that after I have sent a mail to admin department and got a message of "Kindly be advised that a consultant will make contact with you in due course to assist with your query." Service levels are really shocking and have gone down the drain.
