Ongoing ***** on My Vodacom Account – Now Being Accused of ***** Myself
Ongoing ***** on My Vodacom Account – Now Being Accused of ***** Myself
In August 2025, I received an SMS notification stating that the statement email address on my Vodacom account (I***-9) had been changed — without my knowledge or consent — to an unfami**** Outlook email address.
I did not request or authorise this change. This indicates that my account was accessed ********ly.
I immediately went to the Vodacom store in Constantia, where I was assisted by Royston. We discovered that unauthorised purchases had been made on my account, including wearable watches, Google Play Store entertainment purchases, and the purchase of an eSIM.
After multiple visits to the store, Royston eventually engaged with the ***** Department. The matter was resolved, I was not held liable for the accumulated amounts, and my account was flagged for *****.
A few months later, suspicious activity started again. Out of sheer frustration and a complete loss of confidence in Vodacom’s ability to secure my account, I cancelled my contract.
Then, on Wednesday, 28 January, I received a message stating that R4,700 was attempting to be debited from my account. I immediately went back to the Vodacom Constantia branch and spoke to Franklin.
When I contacted Customer Care, I was told that I had personally made R4,700 worth of purchases on Google Play. This is absurd. There is already a documented history of ***** on my account. Yet I am now being told that I must prove that I did not make these purchases.
This is unacceptable.
There is a clear pattern of unauthorised access and *****ulent activity on my account. Instead of addressing the systemic failure, Vodacom is attempting to shift the burden of proof onto me.
For privacy reasons, I will not publish my personal email address here.
I am extremely frustrated and angry. I expect Vodacom to take full responsibility, conduct a proper ***** investigation, and immediately reverse any *****ulent charges.
I want this matter resolved urgently and permanently.
