24 May 2024, 07:46I have been an existing client with Vodacom for 20 years now. I went to Maponya Mall because I had an upgrade and wanted the 15 Pro Max. I was advised at the store that they don't have stock of the device. The consultant called the Vodacom store in Glen to find out if they had stock. I got to the Glen, and a consultant by the name of Octavia Dlamini assisted with the upgrade. They called on February 12 for me to come and collect the device. I then mentioned to Octavia Dlamini that another cellphone number would be used on the device. When asked if the insurance would cover it, she said that it would. She then proceeded with the sale. I was also advised that the device could not leave the store without insurance and accessories. I was reassured that it would not result in issues relating to insurance claims in the event of loss, damage, or theft. On May 17, my daughter was ****** in Rosebank. That very same day, I went to the store to claim insurance. I was then informed that the insurance was not active, but I have proof of payment for the insurance. This has left me in a difficult situation. I then asked to speak to the consultant; they were very reluctant to show me who she was. 10 minutes later, a few agents left as their shift ended. I was then advised that Olivia Dlamini's shift ended as well. At this point, I'm raging with anger, as this is the second time Vodacom has done this! I went back to the store on May 18, 2024, and asked to speak to a manager. Ramano Heradien advised that I should send an email explaining what exactly happened, and he would then escalate this matter to regional. The matter has escalated. Duane Bruce in regional then indicated on my insurance form that he shows interest in on-boarding insurance, but the same document also doesn't define the monthly subscription. He also mentions that the form was adequately completed outside of my selection and signature. Duane then also agrees that Octavia should have activated the insurance but failed to do so. I cannot be held accountable for Octavia Dlamini's mistakes. I reiterate that I would not have purchased the device if the device was not covered by insurance. I explicitly informed Octavia that I didn't want to encounter issues with insurance, but she reassured me that the insurance was covered. This clearly indicates that the agent does not know her job. Please note that I will proceed to consult legal counsel.
