Number retention? Not if they can prevent it!!!

Forwarded an e-mail to Vodacom Customer Care on 23 June 2016 confirming termination of contract and requesting confirmation for retention of number. Confirmation received on the same date "Termination of contract has been loaded for 31/07/2016.NB: on the 31 July 2016 Please recharge your account in the next 48hrs to keep the number.Failure to recharge the number will be delete."

On 1 August 2016 I forwarded the following e-mail: "I have tried in vain to purchase prepaid airtime on the number on which service was terminated early yesterday morning. (I really expected discontinuation of the service to take place at the end of the day!!!) The message I received from FNB, Capitec as well as Vodacom indicates that it’s not possible to buy prepaid airtime on this number. Please advise urgently what needs to be done as I do not want to lose this number."

On 2 August 2016 I forwarded the following e-mail: "To say I am disgusted is an understatement!!! After numerous e-mails to ensure a seamless process of retaining the number whilst transferring to another service provider, this happened. I went to a shop this morning to buy airtime to be loaded on this simcard and still no success. When I phoned Vodacom, I was informed the consultant who assisted me deleted the number instead of transferring it to prepaid!!!"

I received the following response: "We acknowledge your email. Our record indicates that our Back Office is still busy working on your query with referene number S3-G3Q17-7RCLT. Feedback will be provided no later than the 2016-08-05 at 02-00-00. Kindly await our feedbck office to make contact with you."

Since then I've been waiting in vain for an answer.

For any small business the loss of a number is a disaster and this treatment by Vodacom after supporting them for the past 20 years is a major disappointment!!!
