Not honouring an upgrade deal

On Wednesday 5 October 2016 I did an online upgrade request – reference number K8N5Q2 - for which I have screenshots and references.

This was for the following deal:

Huawei P8 Lite (white)

UChoose Flexi 200

R200 airtime

Includes 1GB extra data x3 months

I was advised that I would receive a call within 24 hours to confirm the upgrade. To this day I have not yet received this call. When I called the upgrades department on Friday 7 October, I was advised that I could still get the deal at this price however they couldn’t offer me the 1GB data x3 months.

Given that I put in an online order 2 days before that deal expired, and received a reference number, I feel that I should be given the deal that I signed up for not the deal that is currently on offer. If someone had phoned me back within the 24 hours that I was told them would do, then I would have gotten this deal.

The upgrades call centre could not assist and I was asked to log a query with the upgrades admin department. The feedback on this was:

"Kindly take note that call back time for all leads processed online is 24/48 hours.

Please note that our deals and prices change on the 7th of each month, and are subject to change without notice.

The deal advertised the previous month cannot be reopened as per the vodacom terms and conditions."

Firstly, the confirmation I received said I would get a call back in 24 hours, not 24-48 hours. Also, while I understand that the deals change on the 7th, I had requested this particular deal on the 5th of the month - if I had received my callback as per the confirmation I received (within 24 hours) I would have been able to get this deal.

I can understand that you cannot reopen a deal now for someone requesting a new upgrade, I requested the upgrade while the deal was still advertised which was 2 days before it expired/changed. I therefore don't understand why Vodcaom cannot make a plan (not necessarily this particular deal) to give me the 1GB data x3 months that I requested as part of this deal.

This is seriously shocking service from Vodacom, perhaps it's time to start looking at alternative service providers

Reviewer Update

Hi

It would be really helpful if someone actually contacted me regarding this. It has been a week since I tried to upgrade and I am still no closer to completing the process.

Thank you
