Not even informed of ********** contract opened under my account.

I've been a customer for 9 years. I will be terminating my relationship with Vodacom this year.

I'm attaching an image of my phone screen - over an hour on hold... I've been transferred three times because no one in the accounts department can open my account, ("there's new software, and I'm on the old system"). Maybe you should move to the new system, buddy guy?

The wistfully optimistic piano loop that sounds like it was recorded in a wind tunnel is punctuated by persistent requests to evaluate the level of service I've received, after my call. Hahaha "after my call".

Here goes.

Problem 1:
5 months of receiving sms's threatening termination, ostensibly because I pay with a credit card, and Vodacom is unable to update the expiry date of my card on their system. So despite 6 calls, some of which end with a verified resolution of the issue, the problem persists every month, indicating that no one has fixed the issue, in 5 months.

How do I resolve this if I can't even contact their accounts dept?

Problem 2:

I am contacted by Hammond Pole attorneys to inform me I am R2000+ in arrears for a Vodacom account. I contact Vodacom and discover it is for a ********** contract created under my account, in January 2016. So, the first time I hear about a new contract, apparently opened using another person's name, "Louis"? according to the CSR, is via a court summons, over 4 months after the event.

Vodacom can't even give me any information about this contract, because it is 'deleted'. So I've wasted a few days of business time, going to police stations to wait in lines and fill out affidavits, and deal with attorneys. Note that I was never informed about this from Vodacom, and have no access to information about this case, except that I must apparently pay R2000+ in arrears or face legal action. I have even had 5 conversations since January, with Vodacom Account Customer Service Representatives, regarding the credit card expiry date issue, that is apparently not resolved yet because of gross incompetence, and in this interim, I was informed that I was not in arrears.

Resolution Sought:

I will be cancelling my 9 year customer relationship with Vodacom.

1. ***** Detection resolution -
I would like to see the ********** do***ents used to create a contract under my ID, since presumably one would require at least looking at an ID do***ent, to make sure it's the correct person?

2. Communication problem -
I would like an explanation of why I was never informed that a contract was taken out under my account. I would like to know why I am contacted by attorneys to pay arrears before even hearing about the new contract, from Vodacom.

3. Compensation -
The loss in business time for their gross incompetence is worth a few thousand rand. Not informing me about an obvious case of identity theft for 4 months is worth a lot more. I am an expert in implementing computer ***** detection systems, so I know this is either a fundamental lack of security processes, or a case of gross incompetence.

I am genuinely interested in getting answers to my questions, since I'm sure I'll never get my time or money back.
