Non stop spam with Vodacom contract

I switched to Vodacom on May 13. From the very beginning, my experience with the Vodacom store at Table Bay Mall was unpleasant; for half a month I couldn’t use the phone, yet Vodacom charged the full premium contract fee from my account.

However, at this moment, I want to draw my attention to another pressing issue.

Since switching to Vodacom, I have been bombarded with spam calls. A few days ago, I also started receiving text messages with malicious links, unmistakable spam that is both harmful and invasive. It strongly appears that Vodacom is selling customer data to cyber********s and *****sters. The scale and precision of the targeting suggest that entire customer databases are being passed on, putting the privacy and safety of all Vodacom clients at serious risk.

I would like my phone number to be removed from any third-party database it may have been included in. From my point of view, these spam calls and messages are certainly not part of the VIP contract for which Vodacom is charging, and will continue to charge, a premium monthly fee.

Reviewer Update
Dear Vodacom Consumer Website Team.

Your response above is obvious template response, which feels like a generic dismissal. Shortly after my previous review, I discovered a voicemail from Vodacom in my voice mailbox stating that my number has been removed from their marketing database or something similar. My first question is: on what basis was my phone number included in this database? Who gave the right to anyone to include my number in a SPAM database without my consent? Secondly, despite this, the stream of spam messages continues unabated. At some point, I stopped deleting or even opening them. Just this past Saturday alone, I received 13 (!!!) SMS messages with highly suspicious content, and on Sunday within four hours, another five. I can provide screenshots, some of which show messages purportedly from the Department of Labour, from Amazon, from Abu Dhabi. This flood of spam causes me to miss important reminders and essential confirmations and information. The conclusion is clear: Vodacom seems primarily concerned with securing a steady financial flow, whether from new clients or from selling phone databases, while the well-being and SECURITY of its customers are limited to polite dismissals. I expect a clear explanation and immediate measures to stop this unacceptable situation.
