Non compliance with POPI Act.

I app**** for a contract for a voice and data SIM card in order to get my SIM card working on my Apple Watch Ultra 2. I was told I have a bad credit rating and had to submit a whole bunch of documents.

Firstly I checked my credit rating on 3 different sites and, as expected, it is excellent and has been for decades. The score of 704 reflects on all sites which sits near the top end of the excellent range. So how on earth could Vodacom reach the conclusion that I’m a bad credit risk. It’s is a nonsensical illogical even irrational interpretation of my financial position. It is also offensive.

Secondly I supp**** all the documents requested 3 days ago and have heard nothing whatsoever. This organization does not even have the common courtesy to respond. They also have extremely private date of mine that must be removed from their servers and accessible to no one at Vodacom whatsoever - all of my bank statements and my business invoices are totally irrelevant to them as I have to continue with this pay as you go SIM and so proof of address and my ID is all they’re allowed to have. I have asked for proof that the remaining private documents are erased completely from all Vodacom services. No response has been forthcoming - as expected.

I will start a process accusing them of being in breach of the POPI Act should they not action my request. They have NO right to this information as I have no contract with them.

Incredibly atrocious “customer” service

As expected I have heard nothing from Vodacom. This is for a couple of reasons:
1. It is impossible for them to justify giving me a poor credit rating and, therefore a credit risk. I have had an excellent credit record for at least 2 decades, have very little credit and have never missed any payment to any debtor. Is is impossible for me to be regarded as a bad credit risk especially for a small little voice and data contract that is affordable at least 10 times over or more - literally.

2. They are unable to prove that, as I have no contract with them, they need to erase my extremely private information their entire technical infrastructure. They do not have the right to keep my private documents in the email or documents servers or any individuals computer endpoint. They are entitled to my ID and Proof of Residence only in terms of a pay-as-you-go Vodacom SIM card I’ve had for years. In terms of POPI they cannot keep the rest of the documentation sent to them.

They also need to explain why this pay- as-you-go SIM card cannot be activated on an Apple Watch Ultra 2 which has cellular capability. Instead they insist on a contract which they refuse me for untruthful reasons. Fine, it’s their prerogative as to whom they will or will not grant a contract but to use invalid, fundamentally untrue “facts” to justify their reason is ********* and borders on *****ry such as agism.

Don’t be fooled by “we’ll be touch” as they don’t……

Vodacom has **** yet again. They’re not proceeding with anything. I’ve heard nothing. No one is reviewing anything. They cannot explain how they decided I was a bad credit risk when I’m in the “excellent” range of every single credit rating website. So they’ve go my very personal information and detailed bank statements which they do NOT have a right to see - no one in their organisation is authorised to have access to these documents.

They’re in breach of the POPI act and dismiss this accusation by statin they’re review the application. Nearl a month later and there has been total silence. For a mere SIM card cheap contract I could afford at 100x the monthly cost.

Charlatans - misleading posts on HelloPeter that are fundamentally misinformation. I wouldn’t take this contract if they paid me. If I cannot get the cellular to work on the Apple Watch Ultra 2 then so be it. Not the end of the world. Has anyone noticed that they have ignored this point. Why can I not use my Vodacom pay as you go on the Ultra 2??? No answer from them.

Atrocious and dishonest. Vodacom is a disgrace
