No warranty repairs done

So we all know Vodacom does not like accepting responsibility. I took a vodacom smart tablet away for repair to Pick n Pay Ottery and they sent it to Vodacom repair hub CT.

A couple of days later, I received a call from PNP Ottery, stating that there the tablet is not covered under warranty, because it is user damage and the unit had corrosion on the usb port and if i would like a replacement unit it would cost R 786.60.

I then requested the Job number from Vodacom Repair Hub, and this info was given to me. I then called the Repair Hub ********** 622 and spoke to Emiel, who informed me of the above. I requested that they send this unit to the manufacturer. Today i called CT Repair Hub and got told that this unit was returned to PNP Ottery on the ********** 6, I was then transferred to Emiel who told me that he had sent it onto the manufacturer and they came back with the same result.

Here are my issues:

1. Vodacom claims that they will not repair a unit that is not defective, due to certain reasons and user damage & corrosion is a few of those reasons.
(the repair agent, stated that corrosion can happen the day after the unit is purchased) seems to me, that Vodacom is selling off products with a defect already and then turning this around on the consumer.

2. I asked the agents, what the warranty on the tablet is? Their response is classic, 12 months on the tablet. Yet again, i have been bamboozled, as the warrant booklet states.
"The battery has a limited warranty of twelve (12) months, and the charger twenty-four (24) months against manufacturing defects. Other acessories have a limited warrange for twenty-four (24) months against manufacturing defects."

I would like to know the following:

1. Do you train your staff to mislead customers?

By your agents contradicting what the booklet says and themselves, I would presume, that they would like us, as the consumer to pay for the replacement unit and then take that repair number and claim for a replacement unit under warranty.

2. I would like someone to explain, how any consumer can know if the charging block has been damaged before the unit is bought (here we just trust that Vodacom has provided us with a unit that would last until its life spand) ie the entire 2 years?

Keep in mind that the block itself is very sensitive, so until such time as the unit no longer charges, only then will someone know that it is not working. I refuse to believe that this was user damage, (would Vodacom admit to having a defective product, keeping in mind that this is not the first time that this has happened)

3. Why when I have given the agents in JHB (821944, Thabo)my job number, was i told that this is not a vodacom tablet, but infact a Huawei tablet and Huawei does not cover the warranty.

I believe, that this unit should be covered under warranty, as it still has another 13 months left on the warranty. I also believe that Vodacom agents, mislead consumers, in order for them to "make the sale".

What makes the situation even more frustrating is that I am the one that needs to call them and they just push you from pillar to post.

Vodacom treats contract customers better than what they do prepaid customers with regards to service, as they are legally able to milk them for 24month, whereas, people that do cash purhases get the short end of the stick.

Awaiting your response!
