No Vodacom signal due to lack of maintenance on Vodacom Tower
We have an ongoing problem with Vodacom signal at our lodge/hotel in KZN for past two years. We've called the technician who installed a booster 2yrs ago but he says he cannot do anything without an order from Vodacom. We've told him we cannot log a complaint with Vodacom as Vodacom will only respond if the complaint is from a vodacom client and we have all had to change our numbers to MTN due to lack of signal so could he kindly call head office on our behalf - apparently NOT...
The technician told us at the end of 2016 that the Vodacom tower has not been maintained for several years due to lack of funds and it was not in their budget for repairs/upgrades until 2018.
After a very frustrating Dec/Jan holiday season dealing with disgruntled guests shouting at us for the lack of Vodacom signal we requested the numbers of the guests with complaints and forwarded them to Vodacom... Months later, in the beginning of June I received a call from Vodacom saying they'd received the complaint and gave me a Reference number saying an instruction would be sent to their technical department. An hour later I received an sms saying the problem was resolved and the query closed.
No one contacted me nor visited the property and there is still ZERO signal at the lodge. I have spent hours calling Vodacom only to be told over and over that without a vodacom account/number they cannot log my complaint nor was any of the call centre people willing to take the Reference number I was given and follow up, apparently their system only works if they first enter the clients vodacom.
I finally got through to a "team leader" as calls cannot be put through to managers and have now been informed that the reason Vodacom has not maintained their tower as promised in 2018 is that there is "not enough average spend" in the area to warrant it being serviced. The reason there is no average spend is that there is no signal so many residents have changed to MTN as have all our staff and tourists ie "Vodacom clients" visiting the area cannot make calls or send sms's as there is NO SIGNAL...
Vodacom also refuse to give us a letter advising our guests that they are not prepared to maintain their tower due to a below average spend and that we as hoteliers are not liable for lack of Vodacom service therefore guests cannot demand refunds from us if they wish to depart early due to lack of signal. We run a small business and therefore not in a position to refund disgruntled "Vodacom clients" due to their poor service that has nothing to do with us as a hotel...
I am at my wits end as to how to resolve this problem...
