No signal? Just give us a call... oh wait

Yesterday in a small town in the Western Cape I was working as the only doctor on call in our hospital. This entails using my cellphone almost constantly. Whether for discussion with specialist referral centres or just my own clinical referencing. This is also the only means by which nursing staff can reach me in case of an emergency in the ward.

Vodacom managed to have "No Service" from 8:00 straight through to 17:30. Apart from my being extremely annoyed, this was to the actual detrimant of some patients. What is worse, this is not the first time this happens in the past few weeks.

If you provide an essential service such as telecommunications you cannot simply stop offering the service as you please. Next time at least let someone know that you will not be offering your service once or twice in a month. Then we can know to deduct that amount from your bill.

The reason I use Vodacom is because in the past I believed them to offer the superior service but clearly after yesterday's display I will need to reconsider my opinion.

Vodacom, you have deeply disappointed me. You have probably lost a previously loyal customer
