No phone for 4 months

An S4 (a contract phone that I am still paying for but not using) was booked in for repairs at Brooklyn on 23/12/2015, the sim reader was faulty. I received an sms alerting me of the status. <br> Over a month later we have not heard anything about the phone, & I sent my son in to check it at the store on 27/01/2016 and Lo & behold, the phone was still lying at the shelves of the Brooklyn store & no progress at all. Later that day I received an sms alerting me that the phone has been sent to Vodacom Repairs Potchefstoom. Chris of POTCHEFSTROOM confirmed. A day later on 28/01/16, I received another sms alerting me to come collect my phone as it was back from repairs. But when we got there they said the phone was irreparable and i found it strange that the phone was working until the day it was sent in, stayed at the store for over a month, now with missing *****s and not switching on at all they wanted to claim water damage. God knows if they drank coffee on it the whole month or whatever. If it came back in the condition it was in then maybe. Escalated the matter with vodacom repairs on 26/02 and still waiting 2day.
