NO PATIENCE FOR ELDERLY
I have been a customer of Vodacom for a very long time, my brother as well. We take out devices for our parents on our names because we trust Vodacom. My brother took out a contract for a wifi device and sim which has been paid up and not renewed. We needed to put another sim card into the device but discovered that it was Vodacom locked. Having paid up the device we did not see the reason as to why we would need to be subjected to only using a vodacom sim. I sent my 74 year old father into Vodacom Liberty Midlands mall where he was assisted intiially by Kaylin Moodley who told him to go fight with the vodacom by the Pick n pay, confused my dad responded that he was not there to fight he just needed to device unlocked, he was passed on to Mr Dyer who told my dad that they needed the ID number so my dad provided his ID number, please also keep in mind my dad is an MTN customer and he has never ever had experiences like this with them, obviously on a Vodacom system his ID number would not pick up that device. They didnt bother to ask him who took out the device for him or where he got it from. Sean/Shaun went on to keep asking my dad questions which my dad answered, so my dad contacted my brother who wanted to speak to the agent and my brother is from the Eastern Cape, Vodacom needed a letter from him, when my dad handed the call to the agent he refused to take the call and stood up, so my dad asked him why he didnt want to take the call he didnt answer, so my dad asked him if hes being ******. The agent no where in that conversation mentioned that it was because of Covid. Mind you, the phone could have been put on loud speaker. At this point a manageress Sharmaine/Charmaine was called to which without hearing my dads request or side of the story sided with her staff member speak about Popi etc all of which are terms that would need to be explained to a vulnerable customer. Having heard the manner in which my dad was treated I contacted the store myself and spoke to the above mentioned manageress who still took her staffs part, But after questioning her and showing her that I was not vulnerable and knew a thing or two she decided to call be back obviously to get her ducks in a row, she discovered that the initial problem started with the first agent not understanding the nature of my dads query and passing it over with wrong info to the next agent, With her tail between her legs she called me to apologize and told us to come instore to have it sorted out. A very efficient and polite Joash assisted us but this does not excuse the mannerisms or etiquette of the staff of management.
