No network or service for about a month due to vodacom migrating my number into a new system

In March or at the beginning of April 2016 I had requested that my cellphone contract which was ending in May 2016 to be cancelled and moved to pre-paid. The consultant I had spoken to at the cancellation department after an hour on the phone advised me that the cancellation was successful and on the 1st of May 2016 I will be moved to a pre-paid.

On 30 April 2016 my cellphone indicated that I did not have service as they was no network. On 1 May 2016 I called the customer care line 082 111 and I was told that I was migrated to a new billing system known as a customer C3D or something like that, I was further informed that there was a technical error from Vodacom side and it would be rectified by the next day 2 May 2016 and I will receive an sms to that effect. On 2 May 2016 I did not receive the sms indicating that the error was sorted as informed by the consultant at customer care line. I then called the customer care line the entire day which I was initially told that the system indicate that the number is unavailable or does not exist, it might have been deleted. I was then transferred to the cancellation department, I was then told that my number does exist or available however, it was migrated to a new billing system and only a few consultants have access to it as most of the consultants are not yet trained on it. I was again transferred to another consultant who had access and who indicated that the reason my cellphone does not have access is due to my account being on arrears and I should contact accounts department on 03 may 2016 as they were not working 2 May 2016 due being a public holiday. My account being on arrears came as a shock to me as the amounts were deducted through a debit order in my account and I do not recall a month that I was missed, I was never informed about this by Vodacom to start with. In order to be certain when I call Vodacom the following day, I decided to go through my bank statement as of May 2014 up to end of April 2015. I can confirm that there was no single month that the amount was not debited in my account. The first debit commenced on 28 May 201 and the last one was 28 April 2016. So my account being on arrears was not correct. On 3 May 2016 I gain contacted the customer care line and the same story goes again, no one could access my account due to the new billing system and I was transferred to the person who have access but it kept ringing. I was holding the line for 01:10:04 starting from 03:03 since I was transferred by Lesego until 03:57 using a company phone as I do not have a personal phone due to vodacom.

The people that I spoke to were Itumeleng Tsehla, Lesego and Siphiwe all from the cancellations department and today is day 25 I still do not have a network and I can’t contacted for personal reasons.

The worse inconvenience for me is not able to conclude my internet banking transactions because my cellphone is linked to my internet banking, I have to go the bank and stand on the queues in order to do these transactions. My family and other persons are unable to reach me due to inconvenience.

I have contacted the people at Vodacom copied in herein (Rudzani Lithole and Monwabisi Ngqonqa) to assist however, they have not assisted in anyway except to tell me that there are investigating and this is due to change in their systems.

Who’s fault is it for me to be so inconvenience for almost a month due to their system changes. I have not received even a notification to this regard nor any apology, I am supposed to just bear and accept this nonsense. If I have not been using this number far too long (more than 10 years) and having it linked to so many other this, I will have changed to another network provider but I guess I am unable to do this and Vodacom knows this and could not be bothered about it.

I have lodged a complaint with ICASA as well and today is more than 14 day i have lodged the complaint and i have not heard anything from them after acknowledging my complaint. I have tried several times to contact Nditsheni Hangwani on the status of my complaint, she/he has neither responded to my e-mails nor taking calls. I am really annoyed at what i have been put through by vodacom.
