No help at all - "not my problem"

I bought an Iphone 6 off of Gumtree 2 days ago. My MTN sim card did not pick up any signal so I took it to IStore to check out - only to be told that the phone was "network locked" by Vodacom. I was then instructed to take the phone to any Vodacom shop for the block to be removed.

The phone was deemed Blacklisted by Vodacom to an unknown reason - most likely a stole/insurance claimed phone. (keep in mind that I am now the legal new owner of a device that vodacom has blocked). I then requested further assistance and advice on what to do next... Vodacom's official reply the only thing that I kept getting from the woman was"You need to bring the original owner into the store to resolve this issue, this is not my problem". I even recieved a print out with the details of the blacklisting, the reference number and the phones serial number - surely they KNOW who this person is? Their system has the device registered, obviously linked to the original owner and his detalis???? Why punish ME for someone elses wrong doing?

The man I bought it from (Mike) phone is off, and Vodacom does NOTHING to correct the error, instead shows me the door.

I am now stuck with a R4800 device which is of NO use to me and Vodacom has the ability to fix this - but blatantly refusses to!
