No compatabile SIM Card issued with Upgrade

Renewed my contract the day before shutdown at Vodacom Kolonnade, requested a cellphone that was compatible with current phone devices (sim card, charger etc.). When I got home after charging the phone, I discovered that neither the sim or the charger was compatible. I phoned the Vodacom call center to purchase a sim card but they were not able to assist as they only sell them with a cellphone upgrade. Vodacom advertises that they sell cellphones and sim cards online - but they are not able to sell me a sim card (for sim swop) only if I do an upgrade (which I did)? I can not use my new A30s Samsung
