No accountability after ********** SIM swap

My dad was the victim of ***** at the hands of a Vodacom and Vodacom refuse to take any accountability. His SIM card was swapped without his knowledge or approval. Prior to the incident, he received weird notifications about attempted SIM swaps which he alerted Vodacom to. At that stage, Vodacom did not take any action or try to figure out what was happening. My dad was de*****ed of ~R70 000 through internet banking (ABSA). ABSA were able to recover some of the money, however, the remaining amount of ~R10 000 was not recovered. From the beginning of this incident in around May 2017, Vodacom have been evasive, unresponsive, and in some instances, just plain rude. It is taken them almost 5 months to respond in any detail only to now say that this is not their problem and that they are effectively wiping their hands clean off the incident. This is unacceptable. Why would anyone feel comfortable having Vodacom as their provider when this type of thing can happen? To add to this horrible situation, following the SIM swap, there was a large bill which the ********** had racked up which was then charged to my father's account. Vodacom, once again, took no liability for this. Is this the level of service we are to expect from this cellular provider?
