Nightmare service
The service I am getting from Vodacom is frustrating. I had a contract with the Voda that ended last year May 2021 but when I tried doing an upgrade online on the 22 Sep 2022, I was told that I had upgraded already on the 24 Aug 2022. I explained to the lady that I didn’t do that upgrade and it’s a ********** upgrade. We sent an email to their ********** department that never communicates. I was billed R1013 for phones I knew nothing about and refunded R800 “& something” I have no idea what happened to the rest of the money. The store manager Sienkie Moleko from where the ********** took place contacted me as if he was going to help me resolve the issue but nope, he didn’t. Till this day he has been investigating… I phoned Vodacom on Saturday but had a stumbling block again, I was told account is still flagged and I can’t order online for the phone & watch I was interested in. So, they advised me to go to any store and do my upgrade there. I went to The Glen mall. Oh, wow the service there…Yooooooooooooooooooh they told me they don’t have the watches and they are only getting stock on Tuesday. She then told me that I can take 2 phones and then add the watch later…Yes that happened but when we got home, we realized that I won’t be able to afford R544. She phoned me on Sunday, and I immediately told her that I can’t afford these phones, I can only afford one with the watch. He said OKAY I must come to the store which I did but now they are telling me stories about they are waiting for approval from the head office. When you phone the head office, they told me its got nothing to do with them I must come to VodaWorld…LIKE REALLY I have phoned Vodacom at the Glen numerous times and they are delaying so that the 7 cancelation period can end.
What happened to 7/14 Day Return policy?
1. Contract Refunds (14 Day Return/Out of Box Failure) 1. Should the customer not be completely satisfied with the purchase, the customer may return the package for a full refund provided that: • The product is returned within 14 days from date of receipt. • The product is undamaged and is in its original packaging including all accessories and any other promotional items, if any • The IMEI number on the box must match the IMEI number of the device • No partial returns will be allowed e.g.: All Bundled goods must be returned as a bundle and not parts of.
They law require businesses to clearly display their no return policy if they have one, I was not told nor sighed a document stating that. Let them play the footage so that they can see what happened because I kept on asking for the watch.
I am not happy with the contract, and I can’t afford it.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ASSIST ASAP? This is not on…I can’t be forced to like something that I don’t want. It is within your rights to return these phones.
The implementation of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) brought with it a misconception among consumers that the CPA creates an automatic right for the consumer to return goods. Retailers, manufacturers and wholesalers have to deal with these incorrect assumptions. Generally speaking the CPA creates only certain instances when one can return goods.
These rights are summarised as follows:
(i) Cooling-off period
In terms of the CPA, where a consumer has purchased bought goods as a result of direct marketing, then for a period of five days after receiving the goods, the consumer can:
• Return the goods;
• Cancel the entire contract without penalty; and
• Receive a full refund.

If you are a supplier of goods, one of the most important things you can do is make sure that your returns policy is in-line with the CPA. A good returns policy coupled with excellent customer services will be essential to avoid complaints to the National Consumer Commissioner.
