New vodacom contract, can't port my MTN Number

I took out a new vodacom contract on the 10/10/2017 at Makro Ottery. I am currently on MTN prepaid and phoned to port my number on the 11/10/2017 - I was told to sms PORTME to ********** and once I received the sms to confirm, I could put the other SIM card in and it would be active. I waited 24 hours and didn't receive any sms, then I called the number the consultant provided me with ********** and was told by a voice prompt to visit my nearest Vodacom shop. I went to Vodacom in Maynard Mall Wynberg on the 13/10/2017 and was told by the consultant that they wouldn't be able to port my number, I would have to go to Makro again and ask them to cancel my existing contract and then do a new one with my Ported number. I visited Makro, but no one seem to know what I was talking about and I was told I should phone 111 as this is the vodacom customer care. I called them again today 16/10/2017 and I was informed by the consultant that there was nothing they could do. I asked to cancel the contract and then open a new one with my ported number, but was told by the consultant that they could not assist me only Makro could.

I am very upset with the bad service that I have received from Vodacom, surely their consultants at outlets should know what they are doing? Now I am being told I just have to keep the number they have given me - after I've had my other number for the past 11 years. Surely I must be able to port my number or cancel the contract and take out a new one with my ported number??????

This has been the reason why I haven't used Vodacom as everyone is always complaining about bad service and now I am experiencing it first hand.

Please can someone assist me.

Anita
