New Samsung J5 Prime with connectivity issues - Poor service "not Vodacom's problem"

On 14 October 2017 my wife upgraded her handset at Vodacom Moffet on Main, Port Elizabeth. On the same day we discovered that it did not want to connect to Wi-fi. We contacted the Vodacom Customer Care line who was unable to resolve the issue. On 17 October 2017 she went to the Wi-fi Service Provider who confirmed that the router is in order. On 18 October 2017 I took the handset to Vodacom Greenacres, which is also a Tech centre. They told me that they are unable to book the phone in and that I had to take it back to Moffet on Main. On the same day I took the handset to Moffet on Main who told me that they did not understand why Greenacres did not want to book the phone in, but that I had to bring all accessories with the handset and return to them. (They would have to be send the handset to Greenacres.) I went home, collected the accessories and went straight to Greenacres. There, one of the Tech guys who was very helpful, took in the handset and told me that the accessories are not required. I collected the handset on the same day; he said the handset would not connect to my Wi-fi, but other handsets connects to the same router. I was told to take the handset back to Moffet on Main for a replacement. On 19 October 2017 I went to Moffet on Main for the replacement, but was told that they could not assist. The lady did not even want to check the details added on the system by Greenacres. They said I must take the phone back to Greenacres, as they could not book it in. I had to return to Greenacres where the phone has now been booked in.

My problem is: my wife is disabled and depends on her Vodacom phone for connection with the outside world and emergencies. She cannot drive and is alone at home during the day. I have been told that the Tech person can see that there is a problem with the phone. I am within my 7 days guarantee for replacement. The matter is urgent. I have asked for alternative to upgrade to a J7, for which I will pay, but no-one has the authority to make the decision. The Vodacom shops are blaming each other, saying that the other shop should have handled the matter differently. I am in the middle, driving up and down, 7 days to resolve my issue is unacceptable, given the situation. Worst attitude experienced from staff at Moffet on Main and some at Greenacres. Only one Tech guy at Greenacres put in an effort. The staff at Moffet on Main did not even try to assist. This is wasting my time and money. I had to pay for data transfers, screen protector, etc. Unacceptable.

Dear Lesley Abels. So, your response is "I regret to inform that the OBF (out of box) request was declined as no fault was found on the device." How strange that I received a phone call from Moffet on Main stating that they again tested the device upon receipt and found that it does not connect properly to their wi-fi. More proof that Vodacom really is useless. The device is faulty and according to Moffet on Main it has been booked in again....... Please check your facts before asking me to "You may also review your posting". Unbelievable. Unfortunately I cannot give you a zero star rating. That would be the only change in my original posting.. Will follow up with the CEO again.

Almost a MONTH later and still no phone, no answers, nothing. I trust that ICASA will assist.
