New client - worst experience with a cell company so far

I am a prospective new customer. I app**** for a new contract at R179 per month. I confirmed with two different agents (on X and on the Vodacom Website) that the deal is real. I went through the whole process, got approved everything all at R179 per month. Then later that night I get a quote for R1459. That is not what I signed up for. Trying to get hold of customer care is like trying to pull teeth from a chicken. This new Tobi bot thing is absolutely ****. Nearly impossible to speak to an actual person. I will NOT be paying R1459 per month. I want what I signed up for R170 per month.

Please don't try the whole "it was a mistake" thing.
Even now the deals are still live on the Vodacom and Vodacom Business website.

There is:

1. A clearly displayed price of R179/month on your official websites;

2. A confirmation email at that same price;

3. Screenshots of Vodacom agents (chat + Twitter) confirming it was real;

4. The websites still show R179.

That means the offer was represented repeatedly as genuine - not an “obvious typo”.
It’s therefore not a clear pricing error, but a misrepresentation after acceptance, which the CPA treats as a binding offer.

Given these factors, the price was clearly presented and repeatedly confirmed as genuine. It therefore is not an obvious or material error as described under Section 23(6) of the Consumer Protection Act (68 of 2008).

I entered into this agreement in good faith based on Vodacom’s own communication and confirmation. I therefore kindly request that Vodacom honour the original R179 per month contract as agreed and confirmed.

Last addition:

I want to emphasise that I took every reasonable and responsible step a customer could take to verify the legitimacy of this offer before proceeding. I confirmed the advertised R179/month deal directly through Vodacom’s official online chat as well as the verified Vodacom Twitter account. On both platforms, Vodacom representatives assured me in writing that the offer was genuine and active. I re**** on those official confirmations — not assumptions, hearsay, or third-party information — but Vodacom’s own communication channels.

As a customer, I acted in good faith, exercised due diligence, and made my decision based solely on information provided and confirmed by Vodacom. I did everything within my control to ensure the offer was legitimate before entering into an agreement.

At this stage, the onus now rests fully on Vodacom to take responsibility for the accuracy of its advertised deals and its employees’ confirmations. Customers should not bear the consequences of internal miscommunication, pricing errors, or system discrepancies when they have verified an offer through official Vodacom channels. I therefore expect Vodacom to honour the confirmed R179/month contract in good faith and in accordance with fair consumer practice.

For public record:

Dear Vodacom Team,

I am writing to instruct that all applications, orders, or contracts under my name be immediately cancelled.

Please note that I have not taken delivery of any device and no services have been rendered. No further action should be taken on any account or service linked to me, and any debit order mandate previously issued must be immediately cancelled and removed from my banking profile.

As a potential new client, my experience with Vodacom has been extremely disappointing and unacceptable. Misleading pricing, conflicting communications, and lack of accountability have made it abundantly clear that Vodacom does not respect the consumer experience, and I have no confidence that this would change.

This email serves as my formal instruction to cancel all applications, associated services, and debit order mandates, and to cease all attempts to engage me in this matter. I expect confirmation immediately, as I have no intention of further participation in your processes.

I have emailed the above to every single Vodacom email address I could find - including the CEO office.
