Never take out a contract with vodacom
So I have a contract with vodacom and my laptop stopped working within 2 months. I call vodacom to let them know and they keep pointing me from one department to the next. Which forces me to review mecer. Then 2 days later a lady from mecer tells me, they'll call Vodacom. A couple of hours later, vodacom calls me and refers me to platinum warranty. I call platinum warranty, they want my POP. I keep calling vodacom. They say my request has been logged to their back office. Two weeks pass. Still no answer.
Eventually I threaten to take my business else where and a lady from customer care finally sends me the proof of purchase I needed to get platinum warranty to come fetch my device for repairs.
They take my laptop and it goes quiet for weeks. But the very next day my brother does research on this platinum warranty and the reviews are all negative. Immediately, I email them my concerns. That it seems they never fix anything, they always say one thing or the other to get the warranty to be invalid. They ignore me. Then a few weeks go by.
As I'm on a deadline. I need the laptop back by January 13th, I email them and ask what the hold up is as I was told the device has been given to the relevant department to action. Within minutes they send back pictures of a paper in the back of the laptop and a ***** and say they have water damage.
I ask if the problem is with the lid of the laptop, they say it's with the board, I ask why then aren't they fixing the board which isn't liquid damaged? They ignore my messages. I call Vodacom customer care, I'm told to call repairs, repairs points me to after sales, after sales says there's nothing they can do, I should call customer care. I do. Customer care, tells me the device isn't under warranty because it's a contract. Lol. What? I ask for the recording of the day I took the contract because I know what I heard. They promised me a warranty. I buy the laptop August in November it stops working, that's two months.
The lady further tells me to take the laptop to my own technician then if the quote and findings are different then that of platinum warranty then I should go to a vodacom shop to dispute with them. So I call again and say I'll do just that, take the device for a second opinion because I know the problem isn't liquid damage and before I do, I want to be reimburse for all the costs that I'll incur doing so. I'm not answered.
I paid December and January, that's R500 for a laptop that's with platinum warranty.
I'm not gonna keep paying for a laptop that's faulty and they're looking for any excuse not to fix it. I sent vodacom an email and told them that I'd much rather buy another (working) laptop from a totally different company and pay for that rather than pay for a dead laptop. It's not happening. If I don't get my laptop back before the specified dated then I'm buying a new laptop. I'm so done with this ****py vodacom. When they want you to take out a contract, they are forth coming and prompt but when there's a problem with their devices they're aloof and no one ever knows anything.
