Negligence, disregard, disrespect and unwillingness to help

I was forced to cancel my Vodacom account after Vodacom changed my account, without my permission, to something that was practically unusable. They drastically decreased my airtime and SMS's and still charged me the same amount, all because I hadn't upgraded when I had to. I wasn't able to upgrade, downgrade, or make any changes to the account at all. At all three stores I visited to rectify the problem, the response was unanimous: Vodacom had "messed up". After paying the full amount that was due at that point, I cancelled the contract. Now, 6 months later, my MOTHER received a call saying that my account has been handed over for legal action. Apparently, I still had to pay for the full month after my contract was cancelled. I spoke to a VVM consultant; they handle Vodacom's legal action, and I stated why I was not going to pay the amount: 1. Because Vodacom had put me in a position where I had to cancel it due to their negligence 2. I hadn't even used the account for 2 months prior to cancelling and couldn't possibly be expected to pay for a full month AFTER cancelling, and 3. They had not issued any notice to me, via email, SMS or otherwise, that there was an outstanding amount, even after it had been handed over for legal action. The VVM consultant then offered to send me a breakdown of my bill. I said that this would do nothing to fix the problem and that I wished to lodge a complaint and explain why I wasn't paying the account. He then said that they couldn't help me and I would have to go to an ombudsman, which would take up my time and cost me money. When I explained why this wasn't an acceptable solution, the consultant put the phone down in my ear. Throughout, Vodacom has shown zero concern for me as their client. Their blatant negligence and disregard for me has negatively affected my standing and not once throughout all of this have they shown the least inclination to try to help me in any way.
