Just to give you a brief synopsis of the situation I am in with my current Vodacom contract:

I ported across from MTN approximately 8 years ago because I found the administration problems with this service provider were insurmountable.

During my third cycle, I contracted with a CAT mobile phone and was extremely happy with this handset as I am a farmer and it was used in rugged terrain on many occasions. The handset I believe was made for someone just like me.

In September of 2016, my contract came up for renewal, and I without question decided to have the same handset but a more modern one, as in cycle 3.

Then the saga began, hence the reason I am mailing you as I am so discouraged and no longer know who to address this problem with.

In December of 2016, the phone just started switching off for no reason. This created a problem for me both as a farmer and with my work involvement.

I took the phone in to our nearest service centre which is 30 Km’s there and back from my residence. After 2 weeks they notified me that my phone had been repaired. After 1 day, the phone started switching off again.

So at this point, the phone has been returned six times already and I am about to make the trip for the 7th time as the handset problem has still not been resolved.

To add to my woes, after the 5th return, they gave me a Vodaphone as a temporary replacement until my handset was returned. At that time, I told them I did not want this phone as I was convinced that with a huge screen like this, it would be damaged in my possession. Lo and behold, on the day that I was contacted to collect my CAT, the loan phone fell out of my pocket and the screen was damaged. When I returned it, I was forced to pay R2400-00 because of the damage before they would return my CAT handset. So effectively, I ended up having to purchase this useless handset.

The CAT handset costs me R53-00 a month on the contract and I have had little or no use of this phone. Besides this, each trip to the service centre costs me both time and money. I did request that the handset be replaced and they said that they cannot assist with this request.

Do you believe that I as a customer am being treated fairly and in best practice with your value statements.

Is there any suggestion that you, as the CEO, can make that can resolve this situation and satisfy me as the customer? I would appreciate any assistance or suggestion from you in this regard.

Kind regards

Koos Jansen Van Rensburg

Mobile: 083 **********
