My failing laptop

I am writing this to inform everyone of the poor service delivered by Vodacom and HP.

On 23rd February, I purchased a laptop from vodacom on contract. The saleslady who did the purchase transaction with me was Katinka Van Niekerk.

When I took it home, it was not working properly. I took it back the next day to Vodacom. It was the same lady who helped me. The service which I received from them was not to my satisfaction. I was made to feel like I am just being a 'Pain in the neck'.

The mouse would not work properly. The cursor would not come up on the screen. The sales lady got another collague to also look at the problem. None of them could get it to work. They then said to me that they would have to 'Reset' it. This was going to take quite a bit of time. I said that I would collect it the next day.

When I came back to collect it, I asked them first to switch it on which was also not responded in a friendly manner. When switched on, it appeared to be working but I was informed that if there were any further problems that I would have to contact HP.

After a few times of switching the laptop on, it started to do the same thing again! It started to occur all the more regularly, until it was occuring every day now.

I then contacted HP and after many failed attempts came to the right person. They said it was not their responsiblity but another Company called Digital Planet. I spoke to someone there with the nme Shurwin.

When I first spoke to him, he said that he will need to reset the laptop and I must first make sure that I have a backup of my work. In the meantime, the laptop now started to give other problems. It wouldn't shut down properly. I would do the whole 'Shut down' process but when I would switch the 'On' button the next day, it had not shutdown. It also started to 'freeze' when I was busy working. The mouse was now everyday not working properly.

I then contacted Digital Planet again and informed Shurwin of all these problems. He said that I was not shutting down properly. I must wait 3.5 minutes and check on the side that the light is off before packing it away. This was the first time that I ever heard anything like this! I asked a few others about this matter who actually just laughed that it was so ridiculous!

He had also mentioned that I need to check my antivirus program. I also followed that up by other professionals who said it has nothing to do with my problem!

I want to conclude how disappointed I am with Vodacom and HP. My laptop is just over 3 months old and was not working properly from day one! Whose problem it is, I really don't care! I use it every day and has been so frustrating to have something that is unreliable and doesn't work like it is supposed to! I actually feel that they should give me a new laptop!
