My DEAD Mother still owns my number after more than 2 years!
Myself and my family have been loyal Vodacom Customers for our entire lives. Before I was able to take out a contract on my own name, my mother took a contract out for me. My mother passed away in January of 2016. We went to Vodacom to hand in her death certificate and other documents to end some of the contracts on her name and transfer the rest to My brother, father and I. This happened just before a remodeling occurred at the Tygervalley Vodacom (not Chats or whatever the smaller Vodacom shop is called, the Large-main Vodacom) Long story short the transfers were done incorrectly and some contracts that were meant to stay open were closed. After confirming all the linked numbers that needed to be transferred and cancelled (a man called Jason was the person who "Helped" us- a medium sized, balding, Caucasian male, with a beard and with bangles and bracelets almost to his elbows) When we realised a month later what Jason had done on our accounts, we went back. The Vodacom we went to previously was closed for renovations. we were redirected to the Data store only to be told that there was nothing they could do about the situation, because all the necessary documents they needed on our account was in the store that was being remodeled. My Father gave up on the accounts that were cancelled and just moved on with his life, because luckily his cellphone number was still active. Months later I received recurring SMSs from vodacom informing me that my number would be blocked if I do not RICA before a certain date. I went to vodacom to find out what the reason was for this. They told me not to worry as they were receiving a few of these system glitches. The phone would not be cutoff. Sure enough the date mentioned in the SMS came and I was cutoff. I went to vodacom the next day (Luckily it was a Saturday, or I would not have been able to phone my gate open) After sitting there for quite some time with one of the staff, she told me my number was still on my MOTHERS name. and that she couldn't unblock it as my mother was no longer alive and could not give the permission. As I do not have any Mediums as friends, this was quite the problem. I needed to RICA it to get it on my name. Any after calling a manager he was able to unblock my phone and assured me it was now on my name.
It has been 4 months and I now want to take a contract out of my own. I obviously want to retain my old number (as I have been using this number for over 7 years) I App**** online for a new phone. An email response told me I would be contacted within 24 hours or if in the case I was not contacted I would need to contact them. I was not so I contacted them. Everything went swimmingly until the asked me if I want to keep my old number... The Number is still on my moms name!!! When will this end vodacom? How long do I still need to fight just to have my own number on my name. It is not a lot to ask is it? Why should we remain loyal to your brand if we have to struggle to get anything done with you.
