My account was **********ly upgraded. Now I'm in overdraft.
My account was **********ly upgraded at the end of February. When I received the notification that my account details had changed I phoned vodacom. I received the SMS (the only indication that an upgrade had occurred) on Saturday, March 3rd 2018. I phoned vodacom customer care on March 4th.
I sent the documents requested by vodacom to ********** on March 5th. I received a response that the documents had been received on March 8th.
I received a confirmation that ***** had been confirmed via SMS on March 12th.
I made numerous calls to Vodacom in the interim, as my account balance online still showed the balance on the ********** upgrade, R11,500. My account was also never changed back to it's original package.
Today, May 4th, after Vodacom admitted it knew that I never upgraded my account, it still debited my account for R11,500. I can not pay all my accounts because the money I had provisioned for them has been taken by Vodacom.
Vodacom keeps pushing me between people. John Elliot on ********** , tells me the case is closed on his side. I must phone the accounts department. The accounts department tells me that I must phone the ***** department and I get told to phone ********** again. Customer care gives me the same answer as the accounts department.
I will amend this post with a SAPS case number, assuming it's even possible to open a case against Vodacom for something like this.
I believe that the security measures taken by Vodacom to prevent this type of upgrade are not sufficient. While R11,500 is immaterial to Vodacom, it's a significant percentage of my income and I have to explain why I can't pay my accounts because Vodacom gave someone a phone at my expense.
