Most pathetic Customer Service ever!!!

My contract with Vodacom expired on Thursday 21 July. I contacted the cancellations department on Saturday 23 July to ensure the contract is cancelled and my number is transferred to prepaid. If you don’t they will just keep charging until you notify. The consultant explained that the contract can only be cancelled at the end of the month which I wasn’t happy with. She then asked me if I wanted an immediate cancellation which I agreed to. She confirmed she would process this and explained that it would take a couple of hours up to 24 hours and that I should leave my phone off and try after a couple of hours. After about 5 minutes after the call I lost connection to the Vodacom network. My phone were then switch off. Later the evening I went to a Vodacom store in Canal Walk and ask the consultant to check the status of my request. He then checked and confirmed there’s nothing he could do as my number still show as a contract number. I explained that its strange seeing I put the request thru earlier and that my number is already disconnected from the network how can it still show as contract. Sunday morning I contacted the cancellation department again and the consultant wasn’t could check as their system were offline but did explain to me that I should leave the phone off and remove my sim card for an half an hour and then try it again. He would then contact me to verify if it was successful. After an hour I tried again but still no connection to the Vodacom network. I contacted the cancellations department again this time very frustrated I explained my situation to the consultant again, he then reiterated that Vodacom don’t do immediate cancellations, the request can only be processed at the end of the month and can’t understand why the consultant of Saturday would process such a request but will follow up. After putting me on hold for 5 minutes, he came back stating that this matter was now escalated to his supervisor and that they have to first have to listen to the recording of the my initial call the Saturday before any action can be taken because I spoke to a different branch on Saturday. He further explained that this process might take up to 48 hours. I explained that this is unacceptable seeing I have no connection on my cell phone and asked why I the customer must suffer for their mistake. They disconnected my number in 5 minutes but they can’t reconnect my number. I have never seen such pathetic customer service!!!!
