Month to month data option nightmare!

In the past I have always purchased data plans that last for 30days. This data I purchase from my monthly airtime received from Vodacom. Yesterday while doing this again (after having not done it for about 3 months) I noticed Vodacoms self help options have changed. I noticed a new "month to month" option which while going along I see it was a monthly subscription, so in my mind I took it vodacom would debit my airtime account window on a monthly basis. When checking my balance I had noticed it had not chnaged but received sms confirming data was received. When calling the call centre I was advised that the month to month subscription of R99 a month will be added to my monthly contract invoice. Nowhere did it state this whilst buying it and I feel like it is utter *******, what if I chose the option of receiving a much higher amount of data and this is invoiced to me yet no affordability check or anything was done. What is even more frustrating is that 500mb of data came in, I received just two plain whatsapp messages and my data balance went down by like 17mb and there was no background data running or auto updates that took place. The 17mb of data basically went within the first minute of recieving the 500mb of data.

This was my first and definitely very last vodacom contract I ever take out.
