Money making ****

Good day

I bought a huawei p10 plus in October of 2017 at a Vodacom shop in Cape Town, V & A Waterfront. The consultant who facilitated this purchase was Mansoor Abrahams. When he was explaining the device to me he mentioned that the phone had two free screen repairs.

I took my phone in for a screen repair at a Rosebank branch on the 19th of February 2019. No questions were asked and the phone was taken in for repairs. I also mentioned to the first consultant that a Vodacom consultant mentioned that I had two free screen repairs. I went to the Rosebank branch today to check if the phone has been returned as it was mentioned to me that this would take a maximum of 3 weeks.

To my surprise I was informed that the phone has been repaired but there is an excess of R 550 as the phone was not covered by a warranty. I cannot get the phone until the amount is paid. I am confused now because what I knew is that this screen repair is free as I have two free screen repairs on the device. The consultant I spoke to at the Rosebank branch on the 19th of March said that he only knows of one screen repair for selected phones. I am very confused now as I do not know who is supposed to pay this amount. The reason why I brought the phone in is because I thought this was free as Mansoor had mentioned.

I don’t know if this was false advertising on his side and as he represents Vodacom it would be a lie by Vodacom. I was misled and as a result I am expected to pay R 550 that I had not budgeted for because one of your employees decided to add some spice to a deal just so they can push sales. Please note that I have not had access to me phone for over a month now and I need the device. I am not willing to pay for a screen repair that I was told is free by a Vodacom employee. The worst thing is that even the guys that I went to at the Rosebank branch did not even bother to confirm the accuracy of this information before booking my device in. To me this looks like a web of lies that worked in the favour of the shop as my phone is now held at ransom and I can only get it when I pay the R 550.

If this is what Vodacom (lying and false advertising) is about then it such a shame as it probably the only network in South Africa that has good coverage. I look forward to your reply and hopefully I will have my phone during the course of this week.
