Misled by Vodacom - Terrible Service experienced

I have been trying to cancel my Wifi ****le with Vodacom since June 2016, as it was to expire thereafter. The first time I called I was told that the contract was cancelled.Thereafter, money was still being debited from my account, despite me having confirmed cancellation with Vodacom's cancellation department. I called to resolve the matter and was told firstly that the account was still open on their side and was not closed as I was told, I then again asked for them to cancel it and was informed that there was a technical problem on Vodacom''s side and my account could not be closed immediately, thereafter being informed they would phone me back in 15minutes as they would speak to his supervisor but they did not call back.I phoned a couple days later and was told that the account was still not open. After I explained again what had happened I was informed that this complaint would be sent to the I.T. department and the matter would be escalated further. Once again I left this to Vodacom to sort out and money was once again deducted from my account. I phoned Vodacom again as I was now quite frustrated and told them that I was going to cancel this debit order as it was passed my contract expiration date and I was paying for a service that I no longer used. Was then told once again that the matter would be escalated further and Vodacom would contact me regarding feedback on this. I still did not get any feedback and cancelled the debit order .

As of last month I have been receiving calls from the Collections department about paying the money, and I have explained numerous times what has happened and was told once again they would escalate the matter and get back to me, which they still have not. The most frustrating part is that I have now received an email stating legal action would be taken against me and I am in breach of contract, if I do not pay the money and the service has been disconnected... a service that should have been cancelled months ago. I did call them once again and explained the matter and they told me it would be taken up further (as usual) and put my call through to the cancellations department. The call cut after two rings and I havent heard anything since. Vodacom needs to properly handle matters and train their staff in dealing with matters that concern money. I have had to take the initiative each time when this could have been resolved quickly if Vodacom was more efficient . I have learnt my lesson and will not be dealing with this service provider ever again. I am very disappointed that Vodacom puts out such convincing ads on how good they are yet they cannot deal with a simple cancellation and a customer gets charged due to their incompetence. It is very disheartening as I have been a loyal customer for many years.
